A prototype, a final and a gift.

First, a Prototype, finally cooked and given to my sister. I am contemplating buying a bunch of different fake nails, tossing them on a sheet of tinfoil in the oven and seeing what survives, because these ones... didn't... {frownyface} Buuuut, it was sort of an interesting result. Just wish I had gotten a couple better photos.

Then we have the final from the commission I did for Mr. Ryan. He was very nice to work for and he seemed happy. The painting was commissioned as a wedding gift for the couple pictured in it and the final took me two days to complete.

Did I mention that the commission initially was offered to a friend and teacher of mine? Her name is Lynn Driscoll (Anthony now? She married Bob the builder...) and I had to do a little test after I picked up the cold-press paper for the final, so I figured I'd do something for her as a thank you for passing the commission on to me.
Pretty huh?

All for now. Love and coffee,

Sketch and prep-work

So, I have been working hard so far all summer and have scarcely had time to pick up a pencil. But I have finished with my father's room my friend and teacher Lynn passed a commission on to me and it's for a wedding that is coming right up on Saturday. I also went to my friend Ivy's graduation and finally got to sit still long enough to put pen to paper. The results were largely mediocre and I am putting some paint down on them but there was one doodle that I liked well enough that I wanted to scan it before I paint it. Here's that:

And here's the test piece for the commission. I'm still not sold on the water, but there's no time to procrastinate! Working on the final now!
Wish me luck!! Love and coffee,

Something for Polly's

So, one of the signature items at Polly's Pancake Parlor is our "Maple Tray". Most days there is someone whose job it is to get them ready for the tables. Above that person's area there is a paper sign that has been there for years. One day, while working the Maple Tray job, I had some downtime and began to make a replacement for that sign. Here is what I came up with:

Pottery

Pottery! I made 13-15 pots in my pottery class at the Littleton Studio School, at least one of them exploded... actually I guess that means I made 14-15...

ANYWAY! I ended up with 13 pots, glazed and fired! I had a really hard time deciding who to give them to... moslty they went to family, but I had a couple of pieces that I made for specific people... anyway. Anyway. Here's the best two of what I made!!!
You can see the whole bunch on my other blog: http://ankatheartcat.livejournal.com/32133.html
